So what am I getting at? Well, to cut a long story short, we had a civil ceremony years ago and about one month ago we had our church wedding and, well… it was the best time of my life. An absolutely amazing experience and one I will never forget, and always cherish.

So that is just something I wanted to include here… as it is a big part of who I am. The biggest part.

Day 258: $451,876.77 in debt.

This is just a quick update on our current debt status. As you can see, we’re reducing it gradually so things are moving in the right direction. I’ve also been doing some soul-searching with regards to business ventures and I think I’ve got some clarity on where I want to go.

That’s all for now… but I’ll certainly be outlining the vision we have to try and find financial freedom. So please, stay tuned.

Day 205: $455,008.18 in debt.

It has been a hectic few weeks. Saying that, though, when isn’t it hectic when you’re in the rat race?!? Work, house, family, debts… it never stops!

We have been painting our house the past three or four weeks. My wife and I came to a decision that if we need to sell, the house needs to be ready for sale – we want to get the maximum amount of money for our house, so we want it presentable. But probably more important than that, if we don’t sell, we want to live in a nice home. In a home that we can be proud of and happy in.

Well, other than that, I still have no solid reports of progress on actually finding a way out of this rat race. If anyone has any tips, I’m all ears.

Day 147: $462,453.76 in debt.

We are considering getting rid of our mortgage. Essentially, getting rid of all our debt.

It’s a big call, but it’s something my wife and I have discussed. And it is an important question that does need to be considered. We started thinking about it because of two main reasons:

1. We, many times, feel overburdened by our large mortgage and feel that it is stopping us from living and enjoying life.
2. We are a bit nervous about the real estate market in Australia.

Having said that, however, we do realise that there is one point we cannot escape from:

1. We have to live somewhere.

So when you add that up, we pretty much have these options:

1. Sell, then rent
2. Sell, then buy cheaper

If anyone has any thoughts on this or wants to share their experience, we’d love to hear what you have to say. As mentioned in my previous post, we are going to be doing research and asking financial advisors. We are at the beginning of our journey so we need as much advice as possible.

Day 109: $461,605.58 in debt.

Today is day 101.

100 days have already gone… so quick. I’m stunned. They went really darn quick!

And all my focus has been on trying to get some extra income. Collecting my thoughts a bit after this small milestone, both my wife and I have been thinking we need to look at the other side too – reducing debt.

We’ve never had any financial or tax advisors, but I think we’ve come to the point in our lives where we just have to get one. It’s a smart move. Especially with the complexities of the tax system and all the investment options and opportunities that exist. I certainly don’t want to become an expert on the tax system, and I’m sure there are some really great advisors out there that we can utilise… so we just have to find them. And be quick at it, as the end of the financial year is just around the corner.

The big players all have their advisors… and I think us little guys need to have them too. We need to ensure our hard earned money is utilised as best as it can be.

Day 101: $462,918.58 in debt.

Ok, extremely vague, I know. I will say this, it can and will be a standalone web application, though I do plan to use twitter to really make it powerful.

And the best part about this is… I really believe in the idea! I actually am excited about it and believe it can work. I just have to do the hard yards now and get coding. Not being a professional programmer doesn’t really help, but hey, I’m not going to let that stop me!

Day 99: $462,918.58 in debt.

So if you’re an entrepreneur at heart but are somewhat stuck for ideas, pick up the newspaper or subscribe to a news feed and get reading! Just make sure it’s of high quality and it interests you.

It’s really amazing how ideas will spring into your head as you read what is happening in our world, what the masses are doing and how business is starting and evolving.

I have found the NY Times Technology section to be a great source of tech news. I subscribe to the daily email newsletter and, at most, spend only 5 to 10 minutes per day skimming the headlines and reading the articles that I find appealing and informative.

And as I read, ideas just fly in and out of my mind. Some good, some bad… but point is, it stimulates the entrepreneurial spark and that can only be a positive.

Day 82: $463,767.27 in debt.

And I’ve invested a good 30 hours in it already. I know it doesn’t sound like much, but for me, that’s a lot.

So this got me thinking… how do you know which idea is the golden one? You won’t get far if you keep starting these little ideas, trying to turn them into businesses and then thinking of another idea, pursuing that before yet another one hatches inside your brain.

Perhaps that’s just the way it goes. And eventually, if any of these seemingly good ideas actually is a good idea, success will come. Who really knows. I think it can be both good and bad. I think as long as you know both the positives and negatives of your strategy, and you believe it works for you, go for it.

I’ll definitely be talking more about this new idea. I can see it. I can touch it. I just need to do it! …I really think it’s pure gold.

Day 80: $463,767.27 in debt.

Now, she had been offered one job in the past and, unfortunately, it fell through due to some red tape, so we aren’t counting our chickens just yet… but if all goes well and with fingers tightly crossed on both hands (and feet), in a few weeks we’ll have a little less to worry about.

…and with that, the prospect of spending some more dedicated time on entrepreneurial endeavours makes my mouth water!  :D

Day 64: $464,393.27 in debt.

As per my previous post (which was all to long ago now), I did create a website for a research/data analysis business. I have been updating that and thinking how I can approach it in terms of our offering. That aside, I wanted to announce another website: Sell it Perth (www.sellitperth.com) – yes sir, it’s back to the old idea of selling other people’s goods for money.

So there it is. Nothing spectacular, but something. I just wanted to say… I am doing something here, I’m not being slack (well, most days I’m not).  :)
